Day 6

What a time I’ve been having. I had a great pokemon catching boom! I headed back to the Floaroma meadow to check on the honey I threw on the tree. It had a Cascoon stuck on it! It was a female I named Dustelia and she knows harden of course. Once a pokemon falls into a cocoon state they learn harden which I always thought defeated the purpose, can you imagine a cascoon or metapod over-hardening themselves to the point where they couldn’t evolve? They would just trap themselves forever .__.

Besides that I also caught everyone’s favorite, bidoof! This little lady was found on route 205 knowing the moves tackle, growl, and defense curl. I named her Fern and she was promptly whisked away to the box! That’s right I have a full party! But that wasn’t enough for me, I wanted money and fame too! So I started battling the trainers on Route 205.

Winning battle left and right got me hungry for more. My team wanted to rest but I knew they could take it, they were my team after all and we were going straight to the top! And then during a battle with a Machop I felt a bit of a struggle happening. I brought out Daddy because he takes care of those type of things.  I overlooked the enemy Machop focusing his energy…

Quickclaw didn’t take affect and Daddy must have been a little slow. The enemy gave a karate chop that none of us saw coming. Daddy took the critical hit and then fell to his knees, he glanced back as I let out a gasp. Velvet shot out with full force Fury Cutter and vanquished our foe. The end result is still the end result, Daddy has fallen and is no more.

After healing up  the team I quietly pulled Fern from the box. I don’t have much to say after losing Daddy. He was awesome and I was really careless. I took my team to do some grinding as we all reflected on the matter. Dustelia managed to evolve into Dustox but still hasn’t learned any moves other than harden. Plate must have had some hidden angst when Daddy died because after that he wanted to learn Self Destruct. I promptly told him no.

Grinding for a little bit got us in the mood to move forward finally and we entered Eterna Forest. I teamed up with Cheryl who wanted our help through. The psychic trainers in the forest were a real pain. They kept hitting with huge hits that felt like they were just draining my team. I have a feeling they were exploiting our emotions after the incident with Daddy. Cheryl kept us healed up though and a lot of switching about got us through the trainers. Repel got me through the grass with no interruptions, I didn’t know how my first catch rule would work for team battles and I was lucky enough to not run into anything.

I got Cheryl to the end of the forest and once she left me I went running back into the grass until the repels wore off. This is where I bumped into a Wurmple! I named him Points and he knows tackle, string shot, and poison sting. After that I went straight into Eterna City and healed up my team. Plate noticed a bunch of fishermen we passed by and keeps insisting that we go back. I’m still really nervous about hitting up trainers, I only did it in the forest because we were helping someone. I have a feeling Plate is growing to hate trainers for what happened to Daddy. I’m going to take a break and then head over there, I can’t help but feel nervous. But we do need the next gym badge so more training is a must if we’re ever going to move forward.

Day 5

I’ve just been wandering around smashing rocks and smashing pokes. I got back to Jubilife City and met Team Galactic. I teamed up with the Professor’s assistant to fight. I kind of sat back lazily letting him do all the attacking so Scales could soak up some extra experience. After they were defeated I was presented with my fashion case and suddenly I remembered that this game has poffins and contests! I really loved doing contests and making poffins is fun.

I played around in the TV station for a little bit and battled a guitarist. This fight had me very nervous. I didn’t realize he would be level 16 while my pokemon were still sitting at 13 with the exception of Daddy who was 15. MyImmortal(via a bite crit) and Velvet(via a too quick click on bide instead of fury cutter and a crit) almost died. Daddy had to step in and finish the fight, rock smash was ineffective but it kept lowering defense. I immediately left after the fight and healed my party.

After that I headed to Floaroma Town smashing my way through the ravaged path. I didn’t bother catching the first pokemon I ran into there. It was a zubat and I’m still not sure if I want to be catching a bunch of doubles, though I’m sure at one point I will. I fought a lot of trainers, which is building up my billfold so yeah more potions and pokeballs for me!

I also finally got my hands on some berries and the sprayduck watering can. Berries will help me cut my costs on some items so I’m pretty happy. After collecting that stuff I headed towards the Valley Windworks and got caught up in saving the little girl’s daddy from Team Galactic. I went back to the town to get the keys and after beating those guys up got some free honey! So I slathered it on the tree next to the honey guy’s house. I healed up my team and went to fight at the Valley Windworks.

I  purposely avoided the grass area at the Valley Windworks just in case I could run into pokemon inside. Once inside I tore up Team Galactic. I didn’t have any nail biting moments, I was pretty happy with my team thus far. No wild pokemon inside but the father of the little girl said something about the balloon pokemon. I was so happy I had resisted running in that grass. In Sinnoh Driffloon shows up at the Valley Windworks! I looked it up and I have to wait until Friday before having a chance to catch him. So I will save this area in hopes I can snag myself an awesome Driffloon.

I am currently still leveling my team, we’re all sitting at 15 now with the exception of Scales who is just a smidge from being 11. I’ll be traveling up Route 205 to encounter my next pokemon and get into Eterna City for perhaps my second gym badge!

Day 4

I crawled down into the depths of the Oreburgh mines and found an escape rope! Oh and the gym leader. “Hey look, pokemon can use rock smash to break up these rocks! Isn’t that useful? But you’ll need a gym badge to be able to use it, my gym badge! Later loser!” Stupid gym leader. Also I feel it is more entertaining to add loser or lame ass to the end of all of their sentences. Most of what people tell you in the game sounds a little condescending anyways, adding “loser” drives the point across.

I went into the gym and decided to battle the minions. I keep find myself strap for cash and I wanted to peep their pokemon levels. The first minion and I had a long battle poking at each other with Plate VS his geodude. The second battle involved Plate against another geodude for an overly long tackle battle. When he switched to Onyx I switched to MyImmortal and started using Astonish which was taking it’s HP down pretty fast. Then it hit My poor little Immortal dropping her down to 2hp. Freaking out I switched and went on another long battle of tackles and rock throws with Plate.

After that I was a little nervous to fight the gym leader so I hit up the pokecenter for some heals. I thought another pokemon to switch to might make me feel more secure. I headed north of the city to route 207. That is where I met him, Daddy the machop. He knew low kick and leer but now…OH NOW! So I took him grinding to level him up to the 12’s like the rest of our team. Fight moves are SUPER EFFECTIVE! I hadn’t seen those words in so long! AND I taught him Rock Smash! So he can go on smashing things with all his awesomeness! Then he learned some other moves but the move that mattered that I kept was Karate Chop! So we smashed some rock pokes for a bit and then headed to our gym battle.

Before we entered I gave Daddy our secret weapon, Quick Claw! We approached that gym leader, Daddy VS Geodude. Karate Chop and a low kick and he was dust. He busted out Cranidos, Daddy’s quick claw saw to the first hit with rock smash. Cranidos head butt hit, and I’m not gonna lie, Daddy was hurt but then Daddy got mad. Daddy karate chopped while Cranidos wasted his turn on a leer. Then quick claw bumped on for a low kick win. Plate then took the stage so I could heal Daddy. Plate threw in a couple of rock throws against his Onyx but Daddy was itching for a fight. He jumped back out there and karate chopped that Oynx into my victory confetti.

We have our first gym badge! Woo!

I’m going to grind my team up a bit so I can get some pokes evolved. So onward!!

Day 3

Well I trained MyImmortal and Scales a bit. I’ve made it to Oreburgh City. In the tunnel  on the way there I did run into a pokemon buuuuuut I was a little zoned out and destroyed it. It wasn’t until I had walked through there a second time it dawned on me that I could’ve had another Zubat. I’m still rather confident in MyImmortal’s and Velvet’s power (can’t really depend on Scales) but it would have been nice to have another poke. I have everyone at level ten like I wanted except of Scales, he’s trailing at level 8.

After wandering around the city for a bit I realized I needed to talk to people. So I did and I got more free stuff! I got a lot of pokeballs for free which is rather nice. I’ve been spending a lot on potions, I’m super paranoid about anyone being lost forever so I constantly heal. At the same time I do get a little reckless as well as a little broke.  So this can’t keep going on without me pushing forward, I need monies!

I went down into the Oreburgh Mines and that’s where I found the newest addition to the team, Plate! The geodude with a lot of style! He knows rock polish, defense curl, mud sport, and tackle. He’s a little showy but I’m happy to have him on the team.  After catching him I have only grinded a little, I have to find the gym leader in the mines and it’s constantly throwing pokemon in my face to fight. So I backed off a little bit, but I’m getting ready to jump back in there! Next stop is that gym badge!!!!

Day 2

So my second day into the challenge has been a bit tedious. I entered Jubilife City and what nots. Ran around to deliver the parcel to Jack. Got my map so I can figure out where the hell I’m going. It’s been a long time since I played this game that I remember next to nothing about all of it. Talked to everyone in the school and battled the two nerds for the TM that is useless to me. Oh well, experience is experience!

I forgot about the Poketch stuff. I ran around talking to the clowns and got my free watch. I can’t helo but love free stuff!  Continued to walk about the town looking for more free stuffs, got interviewed not thirty seconds after getting my new and was asked what part do I use the most? Of course it was the clock and he asked me to sum up in one word how I felt about the watch, Regret.  Another guy informed me that a new App was in the works and should be ready about the same time as I get a gym badge, I couldn’t help but think that was the weirdest time frame I have ever heard.

Decided it was time to find the new member of my team! However I got attacked by Jack who has something to prove in the midst of all his A.D.D. antics. Sadly, Velvet slaughtered him. This surge of power carried over and Velvet just didn’t know what to do with it. So Velvet slaughtered our pokemon encounter for Route 203 as well. Gotta say I was pretty annoyed, we traveled back to town and went north to Route 204. I didn’t risk Velvet killing another potential team member and threw my pokeball, we caught ourselves a Zubat!

Yeah! My newest member of my team is a lady Zubat name MyImmortal (fangs, hur hur hur). She only knows Leech Life. So we headed back to the grind. Wandering around I popped into the building in the west of Jubilife City heading out of town. A guy in there gave me an old rod. Yay! I thought, I’ll take this opportunity to snag up a water poke! Went all the way back to Twinleaf to fish in the little pond and after many tries finally encountered a Magikarp. Captured him and named him Scales, knows Splash (der).

Currently I am just grinding between Twinleaf and Jubilife City. My goal is to get everyone in my party to level ten before taking on the first gym battle. Velvet is sitting on the sidelines while I keep switching out between MyImmortal and Scales. Supersonic keeps hitting but while it is confusing the enemy it is never causing the enemy to hit itself. And Leech Life does so little damage!!!! This grind is going to take a little time. At least I have some sort of team beginning to form now.

Day 1

At the beginning of the game there is a quote from Rowan, “Your own tale of adventure is about to unfold. On your journey, you will meet countless pokemon and people. I’m sure that along the way you will discover many things, perhaps even something about yourself.

So my first day was fairly interesting. Starting in the Sinnoh region didn’t really play well for the rules set forth but I still managed to follow them. I decided that I was going to “borrow” Rowan’s Turtwig since I didn’t want to use a starter. Which worked out well, I was relieved I caught a pokemon on Route 202. On Route 201 I did run into a Bidoof but since you don’t get pokeballs until after that I have decided that it still is a missed opportunity. It was a little frustrating because I have walked between Sandgem and Twinleaf multiple times now without running into a single pokemon, but of course it couldn’t be like that for the first time I walked through.

Anywho, like I said I did catch a pokemon. Since it was 2AM I managed my first encounter to be a Kricketot on route 202. I named her Velvet and I have to admit I was pretty excited imagining all the adventures we were going to have together. So I went back to town and released Turtwig and then decided to look at Kricketot’s moveset. Bide and Growl. I hadn’t ever used a Kricketot before and all I could think about was when Ruby from the Nuzlocke comics caught his Seedot. This might be bad but this is what I got and there was no going back now. So I looked up Velvet’s stats to learn a little more about the pokemon. To my surprise apparently Kricketot has lower base stats than a Magikarp! Oh but it got a better moveset in Platinum (am using Pearl). AND it never learns any moves until level 16 in this generation, it evolves at level ten though. FML.

So I grinded that little bug into the ground! Velvet almost died so many times. Bide is one of the most frustrating moves I have ever used. Get punched for two turns and then do somewhat decent damage. I kept feeling panicked when I would hear the beeping every time it’s HP would drop to red. We hit level ten where Velvet evolved and got the move Fury Cutter. I’m still being very cautious though. I’ll feel better once I catch a second pokemon.

My fiancé was watching over my shoulder as I made the nervous walk to Jubilife City. He gasped when Lucas stopped me in the beginning of town. He thought I was going to have to battle him. I thought it was funny how he showed some sincere concern for me and pokemon. It is indeed a little nerve racking knowing that a faint means goodbye.

Onto the next day!!
